Network NI and eircom
eircom was awarded the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) contract for the Network NI project at the end of last year. The Northern Ireland Civil Service is undertaking a programme of reform which is about delivering excellent public services by changing the way the Northern Ireland Civil Service works for the better. Network NI will play a critical role in helping NICS build a world class workplace infrastructure that will enable transformational government in Northern Ireland. In 2007 eircom announced an initial investment of £4 million in our network and service operations in Northern Ireland. We have recently opened a state of the art Networks Operations centre in Belfast and have completed our core network around Northern Ireland connecting Belfast, Derry, Ballymena, Coleraine, Omagh and Armagh in one robust high speed telecommunications network. This investment increases our ability to offer a full range of integrated solutions and services to customers in the business and public sector markets.
